LA SUGARELLA HISTORY

La Sugarella farm owned by the Battaglini family since 1958, is located in Umbria, on the border with the Tuscany region and with the relative provinces of Siena and Arezzo. It is located in a small hamlet of Castiglion del Lago: Petrignano del Lago. The proximity to Lake Trasimeno, Lake Chiusi, Montepulciano, the Arezzo pre-Apennines as well as the land itself and perfect exposure to the sun, allow you to have a mild climate and ideal for the production of excellent quality wines. It is easy to connect to historic centers and villages such as Castiglione del Lago, Cortona, Montepulciano, Passignano and Tuoro sul Trasimeno. The company as well as the various types of wines, take their name from the area in which it is located.
The tradition of wine production was born 4 generations ago, when Mr. Santi started planting a small vineyard and marketed the wine produced from his grapes, initially aimed at family use and for friends and subsequently expanding in local markets and not only that, in fact, his son Giacinto, continuing his business, had also expanded outside the region, especially in Lombardy. The tradition has been handed down from father to son until today, where the son Federico manages the company together with his wife Marzia, the current owner of the company, with the help of his sons Eleonora and Mattia.
